A LITTLE POSSIBILITY

The Door That Stays Open

Sometimes it is enough to know the door is open.

For some reason, my cats want one of our interior doors open a crack. Always.

If I close it, they sit and stare at it. They don't meow or scratch. They just wait, until I give in and open it again. And then, most of the time, they walk away. They never needed to go through. They just needed it open.

I noticed this for weeks before it made me stop. How often am I the one staring at a closed door, when I don't even want to walk through it?

Not every door is meant to be used. A job I may never leave. A call I may never make. A dream I may never chase. But knowing the door is open changes how the room feels. It's the difference between being free and being stuck.

So I'm letting go of the pressure to walk through everything. Some doors are for walking through. Some are just for knowing.

Which doors do you want to leave open a crack, even if you never go through?
